This fruit-forward wine is defined by aromas and flavors of black cherry and raspberry. Expressions of cocoa and coffee frame the mid-palate, and flavors of spice round out the soft-velvety finish.

Мерло 2007 е с чист средно-тъмен рубинен цвят с леки малинови нюанси. В носа ароматите му са доста силни – на малина и червена череша. За съжаление дъбът се усеща доста силно, някак си не е добре вплетен и балансиран в цялостния букет на виното. В устата виното е с почти прекалено висока киселинност и доста остро. От друга страна тялото (усещането за плътност на напитката) е леко, почти ефирно.

В интерес на истината, ако го пробвах на сляпо, навярно щях да предположа, че виното е пино ноар, заради особената комбинация от аромат на розови череши, високата киселинност и летливото тяло.

Въпреки че демонстрира известни слабости, най-вече от гледна точка на баланса си (необуздан дъб, висока киселинност, резливи танини), мерлото на „Колумбия крест“ има и своите качества.

Заради вече споменатата киселинност на това вино, не го слагам сред любимите си, но определено има своите достойнства.
